Zhou Yiqun (1896-1931): born in Tongren, Guizhou Province, he was a second term Cadet of Huangpu Military Academy and a party introducer of Helong. In 1927, he participated in the August 1 Nanchang Uprising. In 1928, he and Helong opened up the revolutionary base in Western Hunan and Hubei and established the workers and peasants' armed forces. He served as a political member of the second army of the Chinese workers and peasants' Red Army and chairman of the county government of Western Hunan and Hubei. In May 1931, during his inspection work in Dongting Lake special economic zone, he died at the age of 35 in order to prevent the secret documents he carried with him from falling into the enemy's hands and rattling two grenades.
